Government of New Brunswick

To effectively manage our existing inventory under the NB Strategic Initiative stream, no new Invitations to Apply (ITAs) will be issued for this stream until further notice.

The New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Stream is for French-speaking workers with the skills, education and work experience to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy, and who are ready to live and work in New Brunswick permanently.

Immigration New Brunswick (INB) has a firm commitment to not only increase, but also to sustain Francophone immigration to the province of New Brunswick. In 2022, we are on target to ensure that 30% of all certificates issued under our provincial immigration programs are awarded to French-speaking candidates with the skills, experience, and opportunity to successfully establish and settle in New Brunswick.

To support its goals, INB has put in place measures such as the Strategic Initiative stream dedicated exclusively to French-speaking candidates. INB also continues to prioritize French-speaking applicants across its program streams, including the NB Skilled Worker and NB Express Entry streams.

At this time, we would like to see even more French-speaking candidates find opportunities through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). With this in mind, Immigration NB is lifting any and all sector restrictions for French-speaking candidates who meet AIP criteria to the end of 2022.

For employers wanting to learn more about supporting Francophone candidates through our provincial immigration programs, and for anyone who would like more information around these changes, contact the Immigration Navigator Service by dialling 1-833-799-7966 (within North America – no charge dial), 1-506-799-7901 (outside North America) or by email at [email protected].

The New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Stream Guide provides comprehensive information on the program. Please read it carefully before applying.
