International students in New Brunswick
New Brunswick’s public post-secondary institutions welcome close to 3,000 international students each year, and that number continues to grow. And a large majority of these international students say that they would like to remain in the province or become Canadian citizens.
International students are particularly desirable candidates for permanent residency because of their Canadian credentials, proficiency in one or both official languages, entrepreneurial skills and familiarity with local culture. These factors facilitate integration into the community and labour market and in turn lead to both population and economic growth, as well as job creation. By attracting and retaining more international students, we can grow our businesses and enrich our communities.
