SAINT ANDREWS (GNB) – The provincial government has invested $362,000 in a new multi-purpose amphitheatre at Kingsbrae Garden in Saint Andrews.

“Our government’s investment in this most important infrastructure project will be used to attract more visitors to Kingsbrae Garden and the entire Saint Andrews and Charlotte County region,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames. “As a government, we are investing $100 million over the next eight years in order to increase tourism revenues from $1.3 billion a year to a $2 billion a year by 2025.”

Ames spoke at the official opening on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

The funding went toward the amphitheatre’s construction, seating, green rooms and related facilities.

“Kingsbrae International Residence for the Arts is excited to share a common vision of developing arts and culture in New Brunswick with our provincial government,” said the attraction’s director of sales and marketing, Brad Henderson. “They have been one of our strong partners since the early concept stages, and we are delighted to have Minister Ames join us for the debut of this world-class venue in St. Andrews by-the-Sea. This facility will be a game changer for the region, as we look to elevate performance arts with our established partners."

Kingsbrae Garden is an 11-hectare public garden that employs more than 60 people.
