BEAUBASSIN EAST (GNB) – The provincial government is investing up to $300,000 in the newly constructed community centre in Haute-Aboujagane, which is part of the rural community of Beaubassin East.

“New Brunswickers want their government to make investments to help the economy. They also want us to make investments that will improve their quality of life, said Health Minister Victor Boudreau. “Our investment in the new community centre will serve residents and visitors for many years to come.”

Boudreau spoke at the centre’s official opening on behalf of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

“Without the support of the provincial government, our wonderful project would not have seen this beautiful day,” said the centre’s president Jean-Albert Cormier. “The Haute-Aboujagane Community Centre, situated in the heart of our village, will benefit residents of all ages.”

The centre is surrounded by a baseball field, a tennis court and other facilities. It can also be used as a shelter in times of crisis, giving residents access to water, heat, washrooms and kitchen facilities.
