TRACADIE-SHEILA (CNB) – The provincial government is making investments in two infrastructure projects in Tracadie-Sheila. Transportation Minister Denis Landry made the announcement.

"The New Brunswick government is proud to join with the Town of Tracadie on these important projects," said Landry. "Investing in infrastructure strengthens communities."

Landry was speaking on behalf of Business New Brunswick Minister Victor Boudreau, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation

The provincial government is investing a total of $900,000. Of this, $500,000 will be contributed under the Northern New Brunswick Infrastructure Initiative to develop water and sewer services in the industrial park and provide sanitary sewer services to existing businesses. It will also provide sewer and water services as well as a road to a new section of the park.

An additional $400,000 contribution under the Northern New Brunswick Infrastructure Initiative will fund an expansion and renovations to the multi-functional centre, the Complexe des Deux Rivières.

"I am pleased after months of work on the part of the provincial government and the Town of Tracadie-Sheila that these projects will become reality," said Landry.

Investing in infrastructure is an objective identified in An Action Plan for Self-Sufficiency in Northern New Brunswick 2010-2013.

"Tracadie-Sheila's reputation as a great place to live, work and play is already well known,” said Mayor Aldéoda Losier. “To add to this, we have elaborated a long-term economic development plan that includes both tourism and business. These new announcements will solidify our status as a work-hard, play-hard town."
