FREDERICTON (GNB) – A four-week public consultation process regarding the province’s next population growth strategy, including a francophone immigration strategy, starts today.

“This process presents an opportunity for New Brunswickers to share their thoughts on ways to increase our population as well as attract and retain newcomers,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Jody Carr. “The provincial government wants to hear your ideas, so I encourage everyone to participate in this important discussion to renew the strategy.”

Interested members of the public are invited to submit their views online. Submissions will also be accepted by fax at 506-444-6729, or by regular mail at: Population Growth Strategy, P.O. Box 6000, 500 Beaverbrook Ct., Fredericton, E3B 5H1.

The consultation begins today and will conclude Nov. 1. Targeted stakeholder consultation sessions will also take place during this time.

“Our government is rebuilding New Brunswick, and in the process we are engaging New Brunswickers and consulting with them about how they feel we can best achieve our goals,” said Carr. “In addition, developing a new population growth strategy, and particularly a francophone immigration strategy, is outlined as a key action item in our recently released Labour Force and Skills Development Strategy. These are among the many initiatives we are working on to foster a stronger economy, train people and create good paying jobs for all New Brunswickers.”
