GRAND FALLS (GNB) – A youth employment centre, Valley Youth Job Access, officially opened today. It is located at 160 Reservoir St., Suite A-202, Grand Falls, and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

"An important part of our plan to rebuild New Brunswick is helping youth find employment so they can stay and work here at home," said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Danny Soucy. "This centre is providing bilingual service to assist young people, aged 15 to 24, with their job search and career planning so they can do just that."

Valley Youth Job Access also works directly with local employers to help match available employment opportunities with the workforce they need.

"The centre will focus on supporting and accelerating the transition of youth into the labour market,” said Pierre Bellefleur, president of the Valley Chamber of Commerce. “The centre will provide various workshops and the necessary tools for successful job searches. At the same time, we are helping our members and local businesses connect with workers. We are pleased to be working with all our partners to bring these important services to our region."

The provincial government has invested more than $112,000 in the initiative, while the Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick, Grand Falls training site, contributed more than $36,000.
