FREDERICTON (GNB) – Student financial assistance applications for 2013-14 are now available.

"By supporting access to post-secondary education opportunities we are fostering a skilled labour market," said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Danny Soucy. "Students and higher education are integral to the journey of rebuilding our economy. This is why we provide financial assistance options to encourage New Brunswickers of all ages to consider advancing their education."

The application is for New Brunswick residents who will be attending a post-secondary educational institution full-time in programs that start on or after Aug. 1.

The Information Guide and Application booklet is online. Printed copies are available at the department's regional offices, Service New Brunswick centres, high schools, public and private post-secondary educational institutions in New Brunswick and Service Canada centres.

"New Brunswick offers loans, grants and bursaries to help students invest in their post-secondary education," said Soucy. "With one application, students will automatically be considered for financial assistance from the federal and provincial governments."

Students are encouraged to apply using the online application. They are also urged to apply as soon as possible, even if they have not been officially accepted into a program of study. Applications must be received at least eight weeks before the start date of a program for students to receive funding by the time classes begin.
