FREDERICTON (CNB) – Nominations for the Order of New Brunswick are being accepted until April 29.

"Our province's past and future successes are closely tied to the achievements of individual New Brunswickers,” said Premier David Alward in a statement today at the legislative assembly. “The Order of New Brunswick gives us an opportunity to recognize their contributions."

Established in December 2000, the Order of New Brunswick is the highest honour bestowed by the Province of New Brunswick. Its main purpose is to recognize New Brunswickers who have demonstrated excellence and achievement or who have made outstanding contributions to the social, cultural or economic development of New Brunswick.

A maximum of 10 individuals may be invested in the Order of New Brunswick annually. Candidates must be Canadians who have lived in New Brunswick for a number of years.

The Order of New Brunswick Advisory Council, consisting of independent members, reviews the nominations received and makes recommendations regarding who is invested.

Nomination forms are available online. They can also be obtained by contacting the Office of Protocol by telephone, 506-453-2671; by fax, 506-453-2995; or by mail at the following address: Order of New Brunswick, Department of Intergovernmental Affairs, Office of Protocol, 670 King St., Room 274, P.O.
