FREDERICTON (GNB) – The 2020 summer Paralympics in Tokyo begin Aug. 24 and several participants from New Brunswick will be representing Team Canada.

“It is so inspiring to see several athletes from New Brunswick competing in this year’s Paralympic Games,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Tammy Scott-Wallace. “They have each worked exceptionally hard to make it to this point in their career, and that is a huge accomplishment. New Brunswick will be cheering on each of these individuals and I wish them the very best in their events.”

The following individuals will be taking part in the Paralympics:

  • Danielle Dorris from Moncton will compete in swimming.
  • Kamylle Frenette from Dieppe will compete in the triathlon.
  • Danielle DuPlessis from Fredericton will compete in wheelchair basketball.
  • Colin Higgins from Rothesay will also compete in wheelchair basketball.
  • Ryan Allen from Moncton will be a swimming coach.

The Paralympics will take place from Aug. 24 to Sept. 5.
