MONCTON (GNB) – A new series of tourism promotional videos features ballet dancers performing specially choreographed pieces at eight tourism destinations across the province.

The idea is to showcase the province’s performing arts while promoting some of its noted attractions for both visitors and residents.

The series was created and produced in a partnership involving the video production company Hemmings House Pictures, Atlantic Ballet of Canada and the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture.

“The provincial government believes in finding innovative, cost-effective ways to stimulate the economy, including the tourism sector,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Robert Gauvin. “Thanks to this bold and creative project, we have a fantastic tool that will support our efforts to encourage New Brunswickers to spend their summer vacations here and attract visitors from other regions to come and experience our natural wonders, hidden gems, extraordinary attractions and unique heritage and culture.”

The video series features performances at the New Brunswick Botanical Garden; Caraquet’s Carrefour de la Mer; Dune de Bouctouche; Grand Manan Island; Beaverbrook Art Gallery; Uptown Saint John; the Hopewell Rocks and Beaubears Island National Historic Site.

“The Ballet Sessions is a way of sharing our special province through art, and especially through movement,” said Igor Dobrovolskiy, choreographer at the Atlantic Ballet of Canada.”

“One of the objectives is for New Brunswickers to see this and become even more proud of where they are from,” said executive producer Greg Hemmings. “It really shines a light on the amazing creative talent we have here, from musicians to dancers to filmmakers.”

Directed by Graeme Walker of Shivering Songs and performed by New Brunswick musicians and bands, the soundtrack includes diverse music styles: from rock and jazz to DJ beats and traditional East coast kitchen party jams.
