RED DEER, Alta. (GNB) – New Brunswick’s wheelchair basketball team will play Manitoba in a key match on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta.

The team defeated Team Saskatchewan 56-40 on Monday, Feb. 18. Jake Fudge led the New Brunswick scorers with 20 points, followed by Sean Wilson’s 16-point performance. A Tuesday victory over Team Manitoba, coupled with a second-place finish in the round-robin standings, could send them to the medal round.

Team New Brunswick’s ringette squad (0-2) plays Team Nova Scotia in a morning game. In men’s hockey, Team New Brunswick (0-3) plays either Newfoundland or Prince Edward Island Tuesday night

Artistic swimming duos Elisabeth Morrison and Olivia Murdoch, and Grace Doherty and Anna Streeter finished 12th and 13th respectively in the technical preliminaries. The team preliminaries were held late Monday evening.

The women’s short track relay team composed of Emily Kay, Hannah MacNeil, Claire Oliver and Angela Xu finished third in its 3000-metre heat to earn a spot in Friday’s B Final. The men’s 5000-metre short track squad of Anthony Cormier Losier, Colton Gough, Tyler MaGee and Conor Murray skated to a second-place finish in its heat to advance to Friday’s A Final.

Biathlon and long track speeder skaters return to competition Tuesday. The men’s long track speed skaters will compete in the 5000-metre event and the women will skate in the 3000-metre event. The biathletes will participate in the individual male and female events.
