RED DEER (GNB) – Moncton’s Britney Snowdon will be Team New Brunswick’s flag-bearer for the opening ceremony of the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta., on Friday, Feb. 15, at 6:30 p.m. MST (9:30 p.m. AST).

“I am very excited, proud and humbled to have this opportunity to represent New Brunswick,” said Snowdon. “I am very excited for the Games.”

Team New Brunswick chef de mission Nicole Smith made the announcement today as athletes, coaches and managers travelled to Red Deer.

Snowdon, 19, is a member of Team New Brunswick’s ringette squad. She will lead the New Brunswick delegation into the Centrium, the site of the opening ceremony. She is also a member of the Atlantic Attack of the National Ringette League and was named the league’s rookie of the year in 2018. She won gold with Team Canada’s under-20 team at the world ringette championships in 2017 and 2016. She also helped Team New Brunswick to a bronze medal at the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

Team New Brunswick will conduct practice sessions Friday before competition begins on Saturday.
