FREDERICTON (GNB) – Public library cardholders can visit any of the province’s 62 public libraries in September and use their library card to sign out one free admission pass to Kings Landing.

The pass will be valid for one visit in September. For admission to Kings Landing, simply show your library card and the pass.

“With the success of this initiative over the past two years, we are thrilled to once again offer this high-quality cultural experience to New Brunswickers,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault. “I encourage everyone, young and old, to visit the impressive Kings Landing site and take advantage of the rich learning opportunities this attraction has to offer.”

This partnership aims to help raise awareness of the numerous free services offered in public libraries and to provide patrons with an opportunity to visit Kings Landing, a living history museum which depicts the daily lives of New Brunswickers in the 1800s.

“Exploring our past is especially relevant as we celebrate Canada150,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames. “Stepping back in time at Kings Landing is one of the many authentic and hands-on attractions that New Brunswickers can experience right here at home.”

Last year, more than 2,910 free admission passes were issued through 54 participating public libraries.

“This partnership between the New Brunswick Public Library Service and Kings Landing gets at the core of promoting the accessibility of history and literacy to all New Brunswickers,” said Kevin Cormier, executive director at Kings Landing. “We are very proud of this partnership and we are thrilled with the response from New Brunswickers over the past several years. It is opportunities like these that New Brunswickers can see the value of education in public spaces like libraries and museums.”
