BERTRAND (GNB) – The Village Historique Acadien will hold its 37th Agricultural Fair with its festive atmosphere on Sept. 13 and 14. The two-day event will include the famous auction of animals and items crafted on the historic site during the season.

Visitors can stock up on preserves, jams, and jellies at the Robin Shed or buy balls of yarn produced in the village. Various local craftspeople will also have their products for sale in the Antoine Landry room.

This big end-of-season party will include music. Free corn on the cob and molasses cake will be served at the Frenette Post House starting at 11:30 a.m. Denis Landry and Yves Godin will entertain the crowd from 12:25 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., before the auction begins.

The auction will be called by Jean-Claude Doiron and Mathieu Sonier and will start at 1:30 p.m. both days. There will also be special draws for Internet users who follow the village’s Facebook page.

Visitors will have the opportunity to bid on a traditional turkey dinner and all the trimmings for more than 20 people to be served in the dining room of the Château Albert Hotel. The winner may choose the date of the meal, sometime between Sept. 17 and 30.

A public wood-cutting demonstration will be held near the Chiasson house on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon. At 11 a.m. on Saturday, visitors can watch wheel rimming near the forge, and on Sunday they can observe the hewing of a wooden beam behind the forge, also at 11 a.m.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the Bricklin car, a Bricklin SV-1 and its owner, filmmaker Chris LeBlanc, will be on site for the two days of the Agricultural Fair. Visitors will have the chance to sit in the famous car and hear about its history.
