PRINCE GEORGE B.C. – Team New Brunswick’s curling foursome of Brigitte Comeau, Justine Comeau, Emma LeBlanc and Keira McLaughlin will battle against Team Saskatchewan for the bronze medal Saturday at the Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C.
The Fredericton-based curlers defeated host Team British Columbia 9-4 in Friday’s morning draw to advance to a late Friday night, semi-final draw against Team Nova Scotia. They lost 7-6 in a hotly-contested match.
In synchronized swimming, Megan McGuigan, of Fredericton and Josée Thomas, of Fredericton finished sixth in the duet finals while Jill Downey, of Rothesay and Emma Morrissey, of Fredericton placed 15th. The team event finals saw Team New Brunswick finish 6th.
The women’s squash team defeated Northwest Territories 4-0 in Friday’s team play while the men’s team lost 3-1 to Newfoundland and Labrador.
The men’s hockey team lost 5-3 to host Team British Columbia late Friday. The loss means Team New Brunswick will play for seventh spot Saturday night.
The badminton team beat Nova Scotia 3-2 and plays for fifth spot against Team Manitoba, Saturday.
Both the judo and cross-country skiers to return to action Saturday in their respective competition play. The cross-country skiers hit the trails in the team relays while the judo squad faces team competitions
