SHERBROOKE, Que. (GNB) – Team NB won gold and silver medals on the track Tuesday at the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Que.

Geneviève Lalonde of Moncton struck gold in the women’s 2,000-metre steeplechase event in 6:32.45, shattering both the national and Canada Games records. Mitch Quigg of Saint John claimed silver in the decathlon event. Teammate Chris Robertson of Moncton placed fourth in the decathlon event.

“I had a pretty good night,” said Lalonde, after receiving her gold medal. “It was a great race. I knew there was a Canadian record, and I went for it.”
