SHERBROOKE, Que. (GNB) – Team NB’s baseball team battled back from a four-run deficit to defeat Saskatchewan 5-4 during the first day of competitions at the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Que.

Ryan Bartley, of Moncton, hit a fifth-inning grand slam to the tie then teammate Blake Gallagher, of Waasis, ended the game with a walk off single in the seventh inning. Team NB (1-0) squares off against Newfoundland and Labrador on Sunday morning.

Women's soccer returns to the pitch Sunday against Manitoba, following a tough 4-0 loss to British Columbia. Both volleyball teams return hit the court again, facing off against Manitoba. Other teams returning to action Sunday include sailing, tennis and softball.

Team NB's swim team hits the pool for the first time at the Université de Sherbrooke with time finals in freestyle and freestyle relay events. The men’s basketballers also sees first time action when they tip off against Alberta.
