HALIFAX (CNB) – The women’s judo team won New Brunswick’s last medal, a bronze, on Saturday at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax.

The judo team beat Saskatchewan to take third position. Team New Brunswick ended the games with 16 medals including two gold, five silver and nine bronze following the two weeks of competitions.

Gold medalists were Vanessa St-Pierre and Martine Chenhall in judo, silver medalists were Andrew Evans in speed skating, Louis Fortin twice in cross-country para-nordic skiing, Karine LeBreton and Amélie Saulnier in judo and bronze medalists Evan Brideau, Charles Evans, the men’s relay speed skating team, Marcus Mason, Lukas Nowak, Miguel Raymond, the women’s team in judo, Kassie Costello in figure skating and Tony Doiron in boxing.

Badminton competitions end Sunday with New Brunswick playing for 7th place against Saskatchewan. Games closing ceremonies will be held at 1 p.m. at the Metro Centre with the athletes departing Halifax by bus at about 3:30 p.m.

Final women’s 4 x 3.75 km - Lindsay Arseneault, Émily Fradette, Audrey-Maryse Lanteigne, Marianne Levesque - 11th (59 :08.60).

Final men’s relay 4 x 5 km -- Alexandre Boudreau, Maxime Lavallée, Mathieu LeBlanc, Philippe Levesque – 10th (1:07.24.20).

N.B. - Anissa Gamble 2, Sam Bujold 2, Connor Garragan 2, Leanne Gallant, Josée Léger, Heather Braun and Schlyer Campbell. Chelsey Hodges and Isabelle Ouellette shared the shutout in nets.

Judo (The Tower, Saint Mary’s University)
Men’s team competition -- New Brunswick takes 4th position by losing 40-10 to Manitoba in bronze medal match, N.B. lost 30-20 to British Columbia in semi-final, beat Ontario 27-17 in quarter final and Nova Scotia 25-10 in the first bout.

Women’s team competition -- New Brunswick takes 3rd position and wins bronze. N.B. defeated Saskatchewan 17-15 in bronze medal match, lost 40-10 to Ontario in semi-final and won 20-0 against Prince Edward Island.

Snowboarding (Ski Martock)
Snowboard cross - Christian Dionne 15th and lost in quarter finals, Patrick Dionne 23rd and Michael Roy 27th.

Synchronized swimming (Canada Games Centre)
Solo female final B -- Alie Murchison 8th (64.165)

Solo female final A -- Julie Macfarlane 7th (68.749).

Team competition – N.B. finishes 7th overall.
