DALHOUSIE (GNB) – Construction has been completed at the new Dalhousie nursing home. The 90-bed facility was constructed at a cost of $23 million.
“Your government knows how important it is to provide our seniors with the quality care they deserve,” said Premier Brian Gallant. “This new facility will go a long way toward ensuring that seniors in the region are able to receive the high-quality care they need.”
The new facility is designed using the resident house concept with three secure courtyards and a clear separation between resident living areas and administration and service areas. It also includes a rehabilitation therapy room, an activity room and centralized dining, living and family rooms. The facility also includes service areas such as a gift shop, hair salon, chapel and a family quiet room.
“Your government is committed to making life better for seniors,” said Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Lisa Harris. “I know that seniors in Dalhousie, and their families, will benefit from this new, modern nursing home for years to come.”
Fostering healthy aging and support for seniors is one of the seven priority areas outlined in the New Brunswick Family Plan framework, which also focuses government action on: improving access to primary and acute care; promoting wellness; supporting people with addictions and mental health challenges; advancing women’s equality; reducing poverty and providing support for persons living with a disability.
