UPPER MIRAMICHI (GNB) – Residents and members of the community joined with provincial representatives to unveil the design of the replacement facility for the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home in Upper Miramichi (Boiestown).

“This new facility will enhance the quality of life for residents, families and staff,” said Social Development Minister Madeleine Dubé. “We are excited to be moving forward with this project. Before long, residents and staff will have a state-of-the-art building in their home community.”

The $9.1 million, 30-bed replacement facility is located at 3466 Route 625, a former high school property, and is expected to be completed by summer 2015.

“Caring for our seniors is a responsibility our government takes seriously,” said Dubé. “I am proud that the replacement of the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home will make a significant difference for seniors in the Boiestown area.”

The nursing home is part of the provincial government's 2011-2016 Nursing Home Renovation and Replacement Plan, under which 354 nursing home beds and 704 specialized care beds are being created.
