FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following statement was issued today by Social Development Minister Sue Stultz, who is also minister responsible for seniors, housing and community non-profit organizations, in observance of Nursing Home Week, June 3 - 9:

In honour of Nursing Home Week, I recognize and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the staff, volunteers and administrators of New Brunswick's 65 nursing homes.

These individuals play an invaluable role in supporting and contributing greatly to the well-being of seniors in their care.

It is inspiring to see the dedication and commitment shown by senior care workers on a daily basis as they provide our seniors with the quality care they need and the dignity and respect they deserve.

I thank the staff, administrators and volunteers of nursing homes across New Brunswick for their commitment to providing quality, compassionate care to our seniors.

As minister of Social Development, I am proud to be part of a government that is helping New Brunswickers care for their families by investing more than $288 million in nursing home services this year.

During Nursing Home Week, I encourage all New Brunswickers to take the time to visit a nursing home in their community and see what they can do to help brighten a senior's day.
