PORT ELGIN (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $98,300 to help relocate the Port Elgin Public Library to Port Elgin Regional School.

“Our investment in this project will ensure both residents and students will be able to access the public library in a new location in Port Elgin,” said Memramcook-Tantramar MLA Bernard LeBlanc.

LeBlanc attended for Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

Funding will go toward the move itself, as well as renovations that will be required at the school. The Port Elgin Public Library has been closed since August of last year.

“The Village of Port Elgin is very pleased to be receiving a substantial grant from the Regional Development Corporation to assist in moving the village library to the Port Elgin Regional School,” said Coun. Val MacDermid. “Without their support, we would not have been able to keep our library and the community would have lost a great asset.”
