CHARLO (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $65,780 in upgrades at Charlo Beach.

“Tourism is a key part of your government’s economic vision,” said Labour, Employment and Population Growth Minister Gilles LePage. “The investment in a boat ramp in the Charlo Beach area will help increase tourism in the village and improve access to the water for local rescue teams when undertaking rescue missions.”

LePage spoke on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

“We are proud to have the Province of New Brunswick as our partner ‎as we undergo upgrades for Charlo Beach, an important tourism attraction in our community,” said Charlo Mayor Denis McIntyre.

The project involves several improvements, including a boat ramp, additional parking, street access, landscaping and two swings with concrete pads. In addition to the provincial government’s contribution, the Village of Charlo is investing $76,000 and the Summer Splash festival is investing $5,000.
