DIEPPE (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $ 2 million to complete the second phase of an extension project on du Collège Street and a resurfacing project on Industrial Street in Dieppe.

“Strategic investment in transportation infrastructure is an important part of your government’s multi-year economic growth plan,” said Treasury Board President Roger Melanson. “These projects will greatly improve access in Dieppe and create employment opportunities.”

Melanson spoke on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

“These two projects are of great importance for the community of Dieppe,” said Mayor Yvon LaPierre. “The work on du Collège Street will improve access to our new intergenerational complex as well as improve traffic flow in our downtown. The work on Industrial Street will improve access to that section of our industrial park.”

The total cost for the two projects is $5 million. The du Collège Street project will extend the street between Champlain Street and Gauvin Road, construct a new roundabout at the intersection of du Collège Street and Gauvin Road, and replace the sanitary sewer systems. These improvements will provide access to the new intergenerational complex once construction of the facility is complete.

The Industrial Street project will repave the street between Babin and Malenfant streets, replace the sanitary and storm sewer systems and a multifunctional trail on the east side of the street.
