PERTH-ANDOVER (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $30,000 in a new marina in Perth-Andover.

“Investments in infrastructure help create jobs and improve the quality of life of New Brunswickers,” said Premier Brian Gallant.

The funding will be used to buy building materials for a new docking system, as well as recreational equipment such as kayaks and pedal boats that will be available for rent.

“The provincial government is pleased to invest in community projects that promote active, healthy lifestyles,” said Agriculture, Mines and Rural Affairs Minister Andrew Harvey. “Targeting these community infrastructure projects will enhance the region’s capacity to support job creation and improve economic development prospects in Perth-Andover.

“The St. John River running through Perth-Andover is not only beautiful, but also a source of recreation – exercise and fun – for residents and tourists,” said Perth-Andover Mayor Marianne Bell. “We are delighted with this support from the provincial government in expanding opportunities to enjoy this lovely river here in Perth-Andover.”

The village is contributing $40,211 to the project.
