MIRAMICHI (GNB) – The provincial government is providing $198,000 to an infrastructure upgrading project in Miramichi.

“The provincial government is proud to be a partner in this upgrading project for Queen Elizabeth Park and the City of Miramichi,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser, who is also minister responsible for the Northern and Miramichi Funds. “Our investment will bring families and residents together and increase economic activity in the city.”

The project includes constructing a bandstand, upgrading the power supply, new decorative lights, fountain upgrades and repairing the gazebo in the park in Miramichi West.

The city is investing $120,000 and the Downtown Business Network is contributing $10,000 to the project. In addition to regular, daily use by residents, the Victorian-style park is often used as a venue for public events.
