TRACADIE (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $50,000 towards building a new skate park in Tracadie.

"Investing in recreational projects for our young people is important to help them lead a more healthy and active lifestyle,” said Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Serge Rousselle.

Rousselle participated in the announcement today on behalf of Health Minister Victor Boudreau, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

The new skate park will be located on municipal property located next to St-Joseph et St-Jean-Baptiste Church.

The investment was made possible through the Regional Development Corporation’s Family and Youth Capital Assistance Program. It enables community groups, non-profit organizations, local service districts, and municipalities to obtain funding for youth and family-related projects such as playgrounds, sports or recreational facilities, community centres and equipment.
