SAINT JOHN (CNB) – The provincial government is prepared to provide $1.4 million to offset some of the costs of the proposed $6-million rehabilitation to the Canada Games Stadium in Saint John. Energy Minister Jack Keir made the announcement today.

"The Canada Games remain a great legacy for Saint John and the University of New Brunswick, Saint John campus," said Keir. "This investment will help bring this facility up to date so that it will continue to help our community thrive for many years to come."

Keir was speaking on behalf of Business New Brunswick Minister Victor Boudreau, who is minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

The provincial investment is conditional on the City of Saint John obtaining funding for the balance of the cost of the project and other government approvals.
