BELLEDUNE (CNB) – The provincial government is investing in improvements at a local campground and interpretation centre. Education Minister Roland Haché and Belledune Mayor Nick Duivenvoorden took part in the announcement.

“This is an important community infrastructure project for Belledune and the Chaleur region," said Haché. "Our investment will help generate employment and tourism, which are key to growing our economy and bringing our kids back home to New Brunswick. Enhancing the visitor experience through investments in tourist infrastructure is an objective identified in An Action Plan for Self-Sufficiency in Northern New Brunswick 2010-2013."

The provincial government is investing $154,500 in infrastructure improvements to the Jacquet River Campground and Jacquet River Salmon Barrier Interpretation Centre. The project includes: creating a new visitor's co-ordination centre on the grounds of the campground as well as improvements to the salmon barrier facility.

"The Village of Belledune would like to acknowledge the support and co-operation of the provincial government in these important projects," said Duivenvoorden.
