FREDERICTON (GNB) – Starting today and until Oct. 12, members of the public may visit any of the 14 public libraries in the York Library Region and sign out a free admission pass for one adult and three guests to Kings Landing Historical Settlement.
The pass will be valid for three library business days following check out. For admission to Kings Landing, simply show your library card and the pass receipt.
“Our public libraries are a crucial part of our government’s commitment to implement a literacy strategy that focuses on lifelong learning,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Francine Landry. “By working collaboratively on this initiative, we hope more families will take advantage of the educational resources offered by our public libraries and by historical attractions like Kings Landing.”
The aim of the partnership is to increase awareness of the ever-expanding free services offered in public libraries and to provide patrons with an opportunity to visit Kings Landing, a living history museum that recreates the daily lives of New Brunswickers in the 1800s.
“We are really excited about this new pilot program and partnership,” said Kevin Cormier, executive director of Kings Landing Historical Settlement. “Our goal is to make history and education more accessible for all New Brunswickers as well as to increase membership in the province’s library system. We look forward to this program’s success, particularly as children go back to school this fall.”
