FREDERICTON (GNB) – Six new members have been appointed to the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal.

"As the minister responsible for WorkSafeNB, I am pleased to announce these appointments," Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Francine Landry said. "The chosen candidates have a wide range of professional experience and expertise that will ensure our province operates with an effective Appeals Tribunal, independent from the government and WorkSafeNB.”

Effective April 1, J. Richard Hatchette has accepted the position of interim chair. He is joined by vice-chairs Shelley R. Dumouchel, Jennifer Cleversey Moffitt, Denyse Hélène Landry, Anik Bossé, and Candace R. Salmon.

“These candidates have the necessary skills and qualifications to carry out the functions of the tribunal while reflecting regional, linguistic and gender diversity,” Landry said.

The role of the Appeals Tribunal is to hear appeals from the decisions of WorkSafeNB.

The Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WorkSafeNB) is responsible for the promotion of safe work environments and the administration of benefits to injured workers in New Brunswick. It is responsible for the administration of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission Act, the Workers' Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
