FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government has invested almost $137,000 into InspireNB, an online career exploration and planning resource designed to connect young people with available jobs.
“Our government’s top priority is jobs, the economy and putting our resources to work,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Jody Carr. “By investing in innovative online tools like InspireNB we are offering more opportunities for people to find the job that they’ve always wanted with the skills needed right here in New Brunswick.”
The InspireNB module is a 17-month pilot project in the southeast being led by Venn Innovation Inc. in partnership with Career Cruising.
Career Cruising creates innovative products to engage and inspire people of all ages to achieve their full potential in school, career and life. The new resource is available free for students, teachers and parents in both the francophone and anglophone school systems, at public libraries, at publicly-funded universities and community colleges and at Employment Development offices of the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour.
“InspireNB is connecting career seekers and employers in New Brunswick during the career exploration process that will provide companies the assured talent pipeline they need for growth,” said Doug Robertson, president and CEO of Venn Innovation Inc. “It provides our young people and others with the tools necessary to investigate careers available in New Brunswick that align with their interests and skills, and then connects them with those companies. This will be a game-changer for New Brunswick.”
Within this portal, local employer profiles are integrated with the career exploration process, work-based learning opportunities are facilitated, career coaches provide insight into specific careers, and messaging allows employers to send targeted messages to educators and career searchers.
“This investment will help bridge the gap between people looking for work and vacant jobs available by employers through meaningful connections between careers seekers, local employers and mentors,” said Carr.
The funding for this initiative is made possible through the Canada-New Brunswick Labour Market Development Agreement.
