FREDERICTON (GNB) – The 2012-13 Student Financial Assistance applications are now available.

“Loans, grants and bursaries are available to help students pay for post-secondary education,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Martine Coulombe. “With one application, students will automatically be considered for financial assistance from both federal and provincial governments.”

The application is for residents of New Brunswick who will be attending a post-secondary educational institution full-time in programs that start on or after August 1, 2012.

The Information Guide and Application booklet is posted online. Printed copies are available at the department’s regional offices, Service New Brunswick Centres, high schools, public and private post-secondary educational institutions in New Brunswick, and at Service Canada Centres.

“Our government is committed to encouraging New Brunswickers to pursue post-secondary education,” said Coulombe, “Our investments in higher education and in students are important. We know that well-educated and trained workers help grow our economy and fill the labour market needs of tomorrow.”

Students are encouraged to apply using the online application. They are also urged to apply as soon as possible, even if they have not been officially accepted into a program of study. Applications must be received at least eight weeks before the start date of a program in order for students to receive funding by the time classes begin.
