NICE, FRANCE (GNB) – Track and field athlete Geneviève Lalonde, of Moncton, and photographer Jaret Belliveau, of Memramcook, will be the Team New Brunswick flag-bearers of the VIIth Jeux de la Francophonie, in Nice, at the official opening ceremonies, Saturday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m.

Lalonde won a gold medal and established a national record for the 2,000 metre steeple at the recent Canada Summer Games held in Sherbrooke. She will compete in the 3,000 metre steeple at the Jeux de la Francophonie on Thursday, Sept. 12. Belliveau has participated in a number of international photography exhibitions.

“It is an honor to be a flag bearer and lead our delegation in such a grand opening ceremony,” said chef de mission Jean-Luc Benoit. '”Lalonde won this honor with her performances this past summer while Belliveau has seen his work in a number of international exhibitions.”
