BEIRUT, Lebanon (CNB) - Saint John boxer Adam Black won his first fight in the -81 kg category on Tuesday night at the 6th Jeux de la Francophonie in Beirut, Lebanon. Black defeated Sony Arnaud of Haïti by a 7-4 judge's score.

"I had a really good fight; I was relaxed in the ring," Black said. "I put the emphasis on a sleepy defence, and it was a boring fight for the spectators, but it worked, and I won. I am not sure what happened in the second round, but it does not bother me."

Black took a commanding 3-0 lead in points in the first round, but his opponent scored two in the second of three, three minute rounds to reduce the margin to a single point. Black came out strong in the third to score four points. His next fight will be on Thursday evening.
