FREDERICTON (CNB) – The provincial government has signed a four-year agreement with the Administrative Assistants, Clerical and Regulatory group. This group consists of about 2,690 funded positions including administrative assistants, sheriffs' officers, commercial vehicle enforcement officers, off-road vehicle enforcement officers, library assistants and customer service representatives.

Finance Minister Blaine Higgs, who is also minister of human resources, signed the deal.

"I congratulate negotiating teams on both sides for their professionalism and dedication in reaching this agreement," said Higgs.

The agreement respects the wage restraint policy which provides a two-year wage freeze followed by general economic increases of two per cent in years three and four.

"I thank the Administrative Assistants, Clerical and Regulatory group for its recognition of the tough financial situation the province now faces and for its co-operation in our efforts to rein in spending," Higgs said.
