FREDERICTON (CNB) - A new program that provides matching funds of up to $2,500 to assist multiple sclerosis patients who seek services outside New Brunswick is now up and running.
The 2011-12 New Brunswick Multiple Sclerosis Assistance Program will be administered by the New Brunswick Internal Services Agency.
Details of the program, as well as application forms and other pertinent information, is on the Department of Finance website.
"We are pleased to provide this program for MS patients seeking services that are not available in our province,” said Health Minister Madeleine Dubé. “This is a commitment we made, and we are pleased to honour it today.”
To qualify for the one-time grant of a maximum of $2,500, applicants must:
● be a New Brunswick resident diagnosed with MS who has received services outside of New Brunswick on or after April 1, 2011, that are not covered by another provincial program;
● provide a letter from an organization or third party indicating the amount of funds raised on behalf of the individual diagnosed with MS; and
● provide documentation or a letter from the service provider indicating that the individual seeking financial assistance under the program has been diagnosed with MS; has received the service and the date the service was provided.
