FREDERICTON (CNB) - Two retailers have been fined and will have their tobacco licences suspended for a month as a result of selling tobacco to persons younger than 19.

The Department of Finance, in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety, took action against the retailers in accordance with Section 5(1) of the Tobacco Sales Act.

The retailers were fined and their licences to sell tobacco products will be suspended from Monday, Feb 1, to Monday, March 1. The fines and suspensions were issued to:

  • Épicerie du Coin Inc. (Épicerie du Coin Allardville), 4583, Highway 134, Allardville; and
  • 623594 N.B. Inc. (Dover Convenience), 2223 Amirault St., Dieppe.
