FREDERICTON (CNB) – Jean Castonguay, associate deputy minister of health for francophone services, has been named interim president and chief executive officer of Vitalité Health Network effective Sept. 7. He will replace departing president Andrée Robichaud and will serve as interim president and chief executive officer until December 2010.

Robichaud had announced in July that she would be leaving to take up a senior position with a health authority in Ontario.

Before he was appointed associate deputy minister of health in April 2008, Castonguay served as assistant deputy minister of revenue and taxation with the Department of Finance.

Prior to joining the Department of Finance in 2003, Castonguay spent 25 years working in the health-care system, beginning with the Edmundston Regional Hospital. He held a number of positions with the Department of Health including as assistant deputy minister responsible for institutional services.

Mirelle Cyr, currently assistant deputy minister of international relations and Francophonie with the Department of Intergovernmental Affairs, will assume duties as interim associate deputy minister of health for francophone services.
