Description

Hunting licences provide hunting opportunities to New Brunswick hunters while managing populations for future use.

Deer licences are valid for all zones open for deer hunting. The bag limit is one deer per licence. Resident hunters who wish to hunt antlerless deer may apply to the ‘Antlerless Deer Draw’. See 'Antlerless Deer Draw Fact Sheet' under Related Links. Resident hunters who wish to hunt during the muzzleloader only deer season require a Muzzleloader Season Authorization. Muzzleloader Season Authorizations are valid only in zones indicated on the licence.

Bear licences are valid for all zones open for bear hunting. The bag limit is two (2) black bear per licence. Licences are valid for hunting during the spring and fall black bear hunting seasons in a calendar year.

Varmint licences are valid to hunt groundhog, coyote, crow and cormorant.

Bird and Small Game licences are available for those clients who wish to hunt upland game birds, several species of small game as well as Migratory Birds, but who do not wish to hunt deer. Hunters wishing to hunt migratory bird species must possess a Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit (available at Canada Post outlets) as well as a New Brunswick Deer & Small Game licence or a Bird and Small Game Licence. Species Permitted: Spruce grouse & ruffed grouse, varying hare, groundhog, coyote, crow, cormorant and migratory birds (ducks, geese, snipe, woodcock).

Fur Harvesters who wish to hunt or trap bobcat may apply to the annual "Bobcat Draw". Species permitted: rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, weasel, mink, skunk, muskrat, otter, beaver, coyote, fox, bobcat, marten, fisher. Please see the Hunt and Trap Booklet for important information on Fur Harvesting.
