FREDERICTON (GNB) – A three-day investment mission to China by the provincial government wrapped-up today with an address by Energy and Mines Minister Craig Leonard to a Canadian Resource Networking event.

The event was hosted by the Hong Kong Energy and Minerals United Association.

“We certainly had a productive few days in China that included many promising conversations with top business leaders who have a great deal of interest in investing in New Brunswick's natural resources,” said Leonard. “We are heading home optimistic that additional international investment will follow and will strengthen our province's economy.”

The delegation continued with meetings throughout the final day of the investment mission to Asia. Leonard addressed the networking event after visiting the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

In his remarks, Leonard highlighted New Brunswick’s unique features that make it such an attractive place in which to invest, including its rich and diverse geology; its multimodal transportation system and extensive road access; its highly-skilled workforce; competitive tax regime; and exploration assistance programs.

“Chinese investors have expressed significant interest in New Brunswick’s energy and mining sectors, and we look forward to continuing conversations with investors in both China and India in the months to come,” said Leonard.

Dec 11. marked the final day of the second segment of a two-week mission to Asia. The mission began in India where both Leonard and Economic Development Minister Bruce Fitch met with various businesses and groups to promote investment in the province.
