FREDERICTON (GNB) – Effective April 2, most provincial fishing, hunting and trapping licences will be available at all Service New Brunswick (SNB) centres. At the same time, the sale of these licences will be discontinued at offices of the Department of Natural Resources.

The announcement was made today by Government Services Minister Sue Stultz, who is minister responsible for Service New Brunswick, and by Natural Resources Minister Bruce Northrup.

“This change is in keeping with SNB's mandate as a one-stop provider of government services to New Brunswickers,” said Stultz. “It builds upon the relationship that has been growing since SNB first began selling hunting and fishing licences.”

Northrup said the change will contribute to the department’s efforts to streamline administrative functions without reducing the overall number of locations where licences are sold.

“Until now, licences to fish, hunt and trap have been sold at the department’s district offices and some SNB offices,” said Northrup. “This year, beginning April 2, SNB will be selling licences at all of its locations. As well, licences will continue to be sold by more than 200 private vendors, who sell almost three-quarters of provincial hunting and fishing licences.”

Some specialty licences and permits as well as Crown reserve angling licences will continue to be sold at department offices. To find out where to purchase licences and permits, contact your nearest Department of Natural Resources office.
