WOODSTOCK (CNB) – Michael Peter Clark, 39, of Waterville, was fined $2,500 after being convicted on three illegal fishing charges, including possession of an illegally caught Atlantic salmon.

Clark appeared March 14 before Provincial Court Chief Judge R. Les Jackson in Woodstock.

Department of Natural Resources conservation officers found Clark in possession of an Atlantic salmon on the Nashwaak River on July 26, 2010. The river is closed to the retention of salmon due to conservation measures.

In addition to the fine, Clark's fishing equipment was forfeited.
