HAMPTON (GNB) – Road upgrades of more than $775,000 will be made in Hampton and Sussex Corner as the provincial government continues to support the economy through infrastructure investments.

“Our government is proud to partner on these important municipal projects,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser. “These investments will help us ensure we have a safe and efficient transportation system to promote quality of life, trade and travel, and economic activity in our province. Our government understands that investing in infrastructure creates the environment for economic growth in the region and helps stimulate job creation.”

The road upgrades will be made under the Municipal Designated Highway Program. The work includes:

  • in Hampton – Route 121 (Main Street) will undergo curb and gutter work as well as paving from the railway crossing towards Hampton Middle School; and
  • in Sussex Corner – Earnhardt Road will be paved from Cougle Road to Route 111.

Under the Municipal Designated Highway Program, municipalities apply to the provincial government for funding assistance for capital upgrades. The provincial government is investing $25 million in funding for priority projects as part of this year’s program.
